  • Use in a separate bottle at higher concentration for stubborn spots
  • Use to fill automobile window washer reservoirs in warmer months
  • Use for bucket/dip method.

Tips:

  • Try Citrus Soy Solvent to remove bug smears, oily residue, and other stubborn marks on windows, followed by a rinse with Biokleen Glass Cleaner.

    Biokleen Manufacturer Info

    Why we chose them:

    • Biokleen states clearly on their website and flyers that none of their products contain phosphate, chlorine, ammonia, petroleum solvents, alcohol, butyl, glycol ether, metasilicate, brighteners, SLS or SLES, EDTA, DEA. No SARA Title III, CA 65, or EPA priority pollutants and NO materials listed by the ACGIH as hazardous.
    • The Company has won awards for Green Production and utilizes extensive renewable energy to power their operations.  Biokleen also claims that their GSE (Grape Seed Extract) is obtained from a very controlled producer and that it is not tainted with toxins.

    Pros:

    • See above.
    • Biokleen products  are a much safer alternative to their mainstream counter parts.
    • They do not use any animal derived ingredients such as animal fats.
    • Biokleen's vegetable derived surfactant may be Sodium Coceth Sulfate which is generally accepted to be be a safer alternatives to SLS and SLES, which are also derived from Vegetables.
    • Biokleen agreed to allow us to sell their empty bottles to offset shipping and packaging waste!  Yea Biokleen!

    Neutral:

    • In general, Biokleen products are a much better alternative to main stream cleaning products.  However, some of the primary ingredients in Biokleen's powders, such as the sodium percarbonate and sodium sulfate although biodegradable, will break down into their base components and leave salts behind. This can negatively impact the environment if released into the wrong area (Notice that nothing grows on the great salt flats).  Please dispose of any spills wisely.
    • Biokleen's primary surfactant seems to be derived at least partially from the synthetic transformation of coconut and or corn products as apposed to saponification which, when done properly, seems to be the most sustainable alternative.  We contacted Biokleen about this on 8/13/2010 and were informed that currently the information was proprietary but that they were intending on providing full ingredient disclosures on their website and/or bottle labels within the next year.

    Cons:

    • Zeolites, an ingredient used in most of Biokleen's powder formulas, generally requires mining to extract, which can negatively impact the environment.
    • Some of Biokleen's most popular products are sold in highly diluted versions, likely due to consumer demand.  This takes an immense and unnecessary toll on the environment due to the transportation of plain water.  When possible we stock only Biokleen's concentrated versions of their diluted products, and attempt to acquire empty, labeled bottles from them to sell to our consumers so that they may be refilled again and again with the concentrate versions.
