You can choose a direct mount in two sizes or, the standard Gold 12 race shoe which comes with the best and most secure binding available in the market. It has become the Gold standard! The Gold 12 is an athletic, responsive design with a simple and easy to use CM race binding which accommodates your favorite running shoe and compliments your natural stride. It's a winning combination, you and the Gold 12. And if you're really serious about training and competing consider the neoprene booties that fit over your running shoes for complete comfort and warmth. They're awesome. The Crescent Moon Gold 12 was designed to be lightweight for running, racing & training, but can be used both on and off trail to.
Can be used by any size snowshoer for running, racing or training on trail.

The primary differences between the Gold 13 and the Gold 12 Race:

The Crampons on the Gold 12 are made from Aluminum instead of Stainless Steel, making them lighter, but somewhat less durable.
The Gold 12 SPL Race Binding is made out of entirely different lightweight material than that of all other Gold series snowshoes.

Company Sustainability:

Crescent Moon is dedicated to environmentally sustainability and manufactures most of its eco-friendly products in its Boulder, CO factory using wind-powered energy.
Crescent Moon Eco-Snowshoes are made without PVC (Polyvinyl-chloride), a common, toxic component used in most other brands of snowshoes.
Crescent Moon recycles nearly 100% of its waste products including aluminum, stainless steel, cardboard and other materials.

The Binding (boot-straps and platform):

Using a simple, but very effective combination of a fully adjustable harness system made of a flexible polymer, over-the-foot cam locking buckles and the only ratcheting heel adjustment on the market, the SPL binding provides unparalleled support and control on all terrains.
A horizontal stabilizer has been added beneath the footplate for greater control, and they've significantly increased the size of the stomp pad for better traction and comfort in all terrain.
The SPL binding on this Eco-Snowshoe also distributes tension equally around your foot, providing the best possible fit and comfort, as well as additional side to side stability for significantly better performance than open toed binding designs.
Crescent Moon's (SPL) binding system has also been enlarged on the Gold 10 & 17 Models, such that it will now accommodate snowboard boots and other large configuration foot-wear up to Men's shoe-size 15.
Additionally, the SPL binding system that this Eco-Snowshoe uses is made with water-proof materials so it will not freeze, stretch, or come out of adjustment while in use.

The Decking (Platform):

Crescent Moon Gold series shoes have high quality abrasion resistant decking material called Surlyn (R) decking in the front & TGS (the good stuff) in the rear.
Surlyn is a slick, durable, lightweight material used to provide frontal structural stability to the shoe.
TGS material is extra quiet when striding.
It is also stable and ultra durable in all snow conditions and the coldest of temperatures, and simply won't tear or fail with normal use.
It is extremely resistant to abrasion.
It is also textured for additional traction and performance.
The decking on Crescent Moon Eco-Snowshoes is balanced to distribute your body weight equally across the entire shoe. This design makes the Snowshoes easier to pull out of the snow, making it easier to walk, hike and climb.

Float On Snow:

A lighter person will experience more "float" with this Eco-Snowshoe than a heavier one. This is true of all Snowshoes for all people. The bigger the "footprint" of the snowshoe, the more float you will achieve.
As a trade off, larger snowshoes are generally less maneuverable and a bit heavier.

The Traction System (Crampons):

Crescent Moon Eco-Snowshoes have the only three-claw crampon traction system on the market, so you can really get a grip.
Inherently better than standard two-crampon systems, they feature the only genuine toe claw found on any snowshoe. As you walk, you use your whole foot, shifting your weight for balance and traction with each step. So they positioned the stainless steel teeth and claws to dig in not only at the heel and ball, but also at the toe, giving you complete control.
All of their crampons come with protective, snow shedding shields to prevent buildup of snow and ice.

The Frame:

The frame of this Eco-Snowshoe is made from lightweight, TIG welded, aircraft-grade, powder coated, 6063 aluminum tubing, shaped and welded by hand and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) providing the greatest strength, durability & reliability available in any snowshoe.
Additionally, Crescent Moons' powder coated Gold Series Eco-Snowshoes have some of the most beautiful frame finishes in the entire snowshoe world.

The Guarantee:

Crescent Moon guarantees the quality of every Eco-Showshoe they make.
Any defect in their materials or workmanship will be repaired, or the snowshoe replaced, at their expense and returned to you within ten working days.
Damage attributed to acts of nature (cars, dogs, tires etc.) and to normal wear and tear will be repaired at reasonable rates.
