At The Green Chalet™ we donate a full 2% of the Net Sales from your order, to a Cause of Your Choice at checkout through out "2% To The Earth" program. Additionally, we double the donation to 4% for check, cash & money order purchases. We strive to be an active part of the environmental movement through the funding of Non-Profit Organizations that are leading the way to a sustainable future.

Credit Cards:

Cards we accept: The Green Chalet™ accepts the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
Right to Decline Orders: There is no surcharge for using your credit card to make purchases, however, we reserve the right to decline an order if we feel that the charges from the issuing bank are excessive or that the order may be fraudulent (The Green Chalet Reports All Suspected Fraudulent Activities).
Processing Delays: Please be sure to provide your exact billing address and telephone number (i.e. the address and phone number your credit card bank has on file for you). Incorrect information will cause a delay in processing your order. Your credit card will be billed upon approval of your order.

Fraud Protection: In order to reduce fraudulent transactions, we have protections in place that are not always perfect. If your credit card it denied, please try a different card. This will solve the problem 90% of the time. If you continue to have a problem, please Contact Us for resolution.

Money orders and checks:

Acceptance: The Green Chalet™ accepts money orders, cashier’s checks, personal checks, and company checks in U.S. Dollars only.
Processing Time: Orders are processed upon receipt of a money order or cashier’s check. For personal and company checks, please allow up to 10 banking days after receipt for clearance of funds before the order is processed. We cannot guarantee the availability of a product by the time funds clear or payment is received. We will charge a $35 fee on all returned checks.

At The Green Chalet, instead of free shipping, we offer you nicely priced products and our Big2 Quantity Discounts. Take advantage of them, and you can feel good about your sustainable purchase, and start receiving some nice discounts in-lieu of free-shipping promos.

Why don't we offer free shipping?
Our mission is to provide a sustainable shopping experience, therefore we keep all shipping costs (the carbon footprint of the shipment) available for you to see.

How do shipping costs relate to carbon footprint of my shipment? The more shipping costs, the greater the impact on the environment. What makes sense to your pocket book, will make sense environmentally as well.
How do Free Shipping promos promote unsustainable consumerism? Since you pay the same amount to have your order delivered, no matter how far it has to travel or how heavy it is, the incentive for you to purchase heavy products from closer to home where shipping costs as well as environmental impacts are significantly less, is taken away.
How can I shop more sustainably using what I now know? Try to shop at e.stores that do NOT offer free shipping promos so that you can compare the true shipping and environmental costs associated with your order. Smart stores will offer you other, unique incentives to thank you for your purchase.
What if I can't find such a store? Shop locally instead of online and ask the retailer where the products are manufactured. This is most critical with heavy products such as cleaning detergents. With e.tailers it's hard to know where their order is being shipped from as many of them have their orders serviced by fulfillment companies with various locations through-out the country. Other e.tailers have their product offerings drop-shipped directly from their distributors (not manufacturers) and it's very difficult to get the low-down on where these products originated from.
Exceptions to the rule: Some of the Bulk Products that we sell are manufactured and shipped from multiple facilities strategically placed throughout the U.S. Since our shipping calculator cannot determine which address to use to calculate shipping costs, we are required to include these costs in the product price and label them as "free shipping". The Good News? Because these plants are typically located amidst each of the nations main population centers, the carbon footprint of delivery is never very large. For example, Earth Friendly Products has manufacturing facilities located in IL, CA, FL, NJ & WA and their bulk products ship directly from the facility closest to you.

What else do we do to reduce the impact of our shipments?

Drop Shipping: We Drop-Ship all "heavy" bulk products directly from their manufacturers to reduce the carbon footprint associated with double shipping, and you'll see the TOTAL cost to get the product from its birth place to your door, with no middle man (or woman :-)
Local Sourcing: When stocking heavier products, we attempt to ascertain manufacturers that are as local to our establishment as possible.
Efficient Shipping: We promote larger orders which ship more efficiently.
Packaging materials: We use only salvaged and/or compostable or rapidly biodegradable packaging materials.
Cut, Flip, Tape and Ship: Take a look inside... (the box that is). We ship most of our orders by flipping used boxes inside-out whenever possible, saving trees and processing pollution.

Shipping Options:
Where we ship: We ship only to the lower 48 continental United States at this time.
Carrier Options: You may have the option of either Fed-Ex Home Delivery, USPS parcel post or first class, or Local Pick-up from our Bend, OR warehouse.
Insurance: With FedEx & USPS, packages are automatically insured up to $100.00. You will be given the option to purchase additional insurance at check-out.
Delivery Time Frame: Depending on the method chosen, you can usually expect to receive your shipment within 3 to 10 days of your order date. Although we make every effort to ship your order as quickly as possible, the time estimates given are only approximate. The Green Chalet DOES NOT guarantee that your shipment will arrive within the stated time period.
- Address Type:
When you check out, you may be asked to select either [Business] or [Residential] to determine your shipping costs. If you select [Business] when your address is [Residential], you agree that we may charge your account for the difference in shipping charges, up to 90 days from the date the order was processed. You further agree that, if a Credit Card was used for this transaction, we may charge such card for the difference without prior notification to you. We will send you an email confirmation of this charge immediately upon processing.
A word about Packaging:
Sustainability: Staying true to our Ethics before profits motive (sustainability in this case), most of our boxes and packing materials are salvaged from our donors. This is not as attractive as some packaging but is as environmentally friendly as it gets. Don't be surprised to find newspapers, chunks of broken foam, shreds of bubble wrap, etc. protecting your items. If practical, save the packaging for your future needs. In times that we run out of these salvaged materials, we will substitute them with recycled and/or biodegradable packaging. We spend a lot of extra time breaking down, reversing, stamping and re-taping our boxes, but we feel it's worth it.
Shipping claims:
Risk: The risk of loss and title for all merchandise ordered on this Web site pass to you once the merchandise has been delivered to your shipping address.
Insurance: With every shipment you have $100.00 of included insurance coverage. You also have the option to purchase additional insurance for a reasonable fee, which will either be covered by the "Carrier" or "The Green Chalet" at the sole discretion of The Green Chalet.
Claims: In the rare instance that you need to file a claim due to a lost or damaged shipment, please contact The Green Chalet directly. If the incident was determined to be the fault of the carrier, your sole remedy will be the receipt of an identical replacement product or products. The Green Chalet will in no case disburse cash in leu of product replacement for any shipping claim. The maximum insured value of any product is $100.00 unless you purchased additional insurance during checkout. In no case shall The Green Chalet be liable for any portion of a loss if the "carrier" refuses coverage for the loss, and in NO case shall our liability exceed our cost for the product(s), minus the "carriers" covered amount.

Guarantee: Products purchased at The Green Chalet™ come with a 30 day Complete Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied, log-in to your account within the 30 day period and select "view/return". Follow the simple steps to initiate an RMA (return merchandise authorization). Then, simply follow the instructions in the RMA email we'll send you. That's it!

Exceptions: Cleaning detergents (including bulk), are returnable only if they are defective.
Details:

If we determine the we made an error or the item was defective when it left our warehouse, we will either replace the product for free or give you a full store credit. We'll even credit the return shipping (via a carrier of our choice)! *

If you are returning the product because you simply changed your mind, or decided you didn't like it, we will give you a store credit (minus shipping costs).

What we require:

The item must be properly packaged in perfect condition in its original shipping carton with its original packaging material to protect from damage.
The item must be in perfect condition.

What we request:

In order to ensure that we continue to carry "only the finest" products in the future, please enclose a letter stating the following three items;

The reason for return.
What about the product dissatisfied you.
How you feel the product could be improved.

After verifying that the product is in perfect condition, we will process your store exchange or credit. Please help us ensure a stock of only the finest products at The Green Chalet™by enclosing the above letter.

Even though we feel it is very unlikely that you will need to take advantage of our 30 day Satisfaction Guarantee, we offer it to give you the confidence you deserve in making your purchase decision. It is our Mission to insure we sell only superior products in each category, therefore any and all products sold by us have already undergone research and testing by us for effectiveness, durability, quality of design and eco-friendliness.
